The GSW Telecom Leadership team has more than 100 years of combined experience helping telecom and IT companies like Sprint, MCI, U S WEST and Time Warner Telecom grow and deliver products and services to businesses. They have experience working on the customer side and the provider side in the tech and telecom sector. They began identifying a disturbing trend -- the more a telecom company grew, the more difficult it became to provide innovative solutions and customer-focused service to customers. What customers wanted was a “no-holds barred” responsive approach to solving their communications challenges. Ultimately, helping them grow their business. That realization led to the launch of GSW Telecom and an unwavering commitment to serve businesses with solutions based on integrity, reliability and real value.

MEET OUR EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP
Les Smith, CEO, President and Founder. Les has nearly 30 years of experience with national and international telecom companies and CLECs. He also has expertise working in IT with companies like Sprint, MCI, US West, Qwest, Time Warner Telecom and Tucson Newspapers. Les formed GSW Telecom in response to the needs of mid-size businesses to connect their locations securely, seamlessly, and simply to deliver a competitive, cost-effective advantage. Les has directed the expansion of thousands of miles of fiber network that enabled the launch of new technologies in IP voice, data, Internet and IoT solutions. As CEO, Les oversees the strategic and tactical business plans, technology, product marketing, and sales ofGSW Telecom. Les is a U.S. Navy veteran and a proud 25-year resident of Tucson. He enjoys cycling, hiking playing guitar and spending time with his family.
Mike Montgomery, Vice President of Finance, CFO. A long-time telecom industry veteran, Mike hasextensive background with reporting, analytics, and strategic planning for start-up to Fortune 500 businesses. Mike understands advanced technologies, and corporate and field operations business models. He is adept at summarizing critical information and delivering powerful insights, forecasting, financial modeling, and budgeting for executive review. Mike lives in the Denver area with his wife and children.
Bob Meldrum, Chief Marketing Officer. Bob’s expertise includes delivering innovative strategic marketing, branding and communications services to Fortune 100 companies and mid-size entities, primarily in high-tech and telecom industries. Bob’s creativity and marketing prowess has resulted in growing double-digit revenue, generating alternate lead sources, improving brand awareness, developing new channel relationships and increasing market share for companies and organizations in highly competitive industries. An MBA graduate of the W.P Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, Bob is a former Congressional press aide, sportscaster and accomplished musician. Bob and his family reside in Phoenix.
Bill Heath, Director of Telecom Engineering. Bill opened the sixth Commworld (a national telecom equipment provider) in Tucson AZ in 1982. In 1996, Commworld of Tucson was acquired by Commworld Corporate, as it went public. Bill was the Director of Installations for Southern Arizona – running the only profitable Commworld acquisition and doubling the volume of equipment installed in those two years. Two years later, Bill repurchased his Commworld Franchise and in 2017, Commworld of Tucson was purchased by GSW Telecom. He lives in Tucson with his wife Lynette, whom he met while they attended the University of Arizona, and his family.
Elliott Crane, IT Manager. Elliott leads the pre-sale and post implementation of GSW Telecom customer projects. This includes the network design, engineering and implementation of customer network solutions. In addition to managing growth opportunities for GSW Telecom, he is the main point of contact for customers with network issues. Elliott brings experience from small and large companies to the GSW Telecom team. He earned a BS degree in IT from Colorado State University and an associate degree in Network Administration and Cyber Security from Pima Community College in Tucson. Elliott served in the U.S. Army as a support systems specialist responsible for installing systems and providing support to sophisticated users in enabling state-of-art communications operations.
